Eyelash was borne one hot, sunny summer day on the beach in Cape May, New Jersey.  From the very first chapter, I knew exactly what the title would be and what would generally occur in the story.  Each year during Fourth of July week, a group of my girlfriends and I have rented a charming house in Cape May, where we spend the days shopping, reading and napping on the beach, chatting about every topic imaginable, and totally de-stressing.  When I began writing feverishly, while seated in my beach chair on that July day, one of the girls asked me what I was so frantically writing. I told her that I was writing a novel.  This peaked the interest of the other women in our group, and when they asked me if the book had a name,  I immediately replied "Eyelash".  They were determined to offer their speculative theories on what the significance of "Eyelash" might be in the story, but they were unable to guess the true meaning, though we enjoyed a great deal of laughter over the variety of possibilities.

The story of Eyelash begins with Laina and her husband, Dan, living in New York City, and Laina is loving every moment of her life there.  Dan insists that they should chuck their jobs in New York and purchase a bed and breakfast in Victorian Cape May, New Jersey, but has difficulty convincing Laina of the benefits of this lifestyle change until she encounters a situation at work that exasperates her into agreeing to go along with Dan's dream.

Once the inn is purchased, Dan seems to believe that his only job is taking their guests out to play golf, leaving Laina to do all of the necessary work.  Laina and her cousin, Tia, who lives in Las Vegas, frequently e-mail, and in one of Laina's venting sessions to Tia about Dan and his lack of cooperative spirit, Tia invites Laina to Las Vegas for a little R & R, as well as a golden opportunity to allow Dan to see and experience first hand the amount of work that is actually required in their business.

In Las Vegas, Laina encounters Tia's boss, Lawrence, the owner of a large hotel and casino resort and a shameless womanizer.  Will this woman of faith be able to resist the incredibly charming and persuasive Lawrence even when they find themselves in a situation where their lives are in danger? Would she make appropriate decisions under such precarious circumstances?  Would you be likely to make the same decisions as did Laina?

Combining a touch of humor, a bit of mystery, and a sprinkling of inspiration, the reader can curl up with Eyelash and be guided through some fascinating family relationships and beyond.

You are invited to read Eyelash and walk into the life of Laina Strickland, if only for a brief visit.
